New models boast the reference in picture quality, stunning design and enhanced connectivity opportunities
(Hamburg 20 February 2012). Panasonic today announces its 2012 Smart VIERA Plasma HDTV line-up – the VT50, GT50, ST50, UT50, XT50 and X50 series. With screen sizes ranging from 42 inches to 65 inches, an expanded 3D line-up, and an enhanced VIERA Connect platform giving access to more innovative apps and products, the 2012 Smart VIERA Plasma line-up opens the door to a revolutionary next-generation TV experience.
The Smart VIERA Plasma models offer outstanding picture quality, both in Full HD 2D and 3D, meaning you’ll never miss a detail when watching movies, sports or playing the latest high-graphic games. With the highest contrasts, deepest blacks and finest gradations you’re guaranteed a breath-taking experience.
The new models in the 2012 VIERA Plasma series all feature self-illuminating plasma panels with stunning black levels, and the Neo Plasma technologies on the VT, GT and ST series provide a High contrast filter, Infinite Black Panel-technology and a higher efficiency panel generating for the best balance of black and white even in bright lighting conditions. The Full HD 3D progressive models in the new range feature the 2500 Hz FFD (VT and GT series), 24,576 steps of Gradation which was previously only available in professional monitors and fast switching phosphors for outstanding picture quality.
Selected VIERA Plasma TVs in the new range include a web browser, letting you visit all your favourite websites from the comfort of your sofa, and an optional Skype Communication camera (TY-CC20W) which enables you to catch up with friends and family while simultaneously watching television. With the VIERA Remote App, you can get a true multi-screen experience via your smartphone or tablet – ‘swiping’ content seamlessly between your mobile display and the VIERA TV. The Remote App can also become a games controller, allowing you to enjoy gaming applications on a large screen without an additional gamepad.
Panasonic’s company-wide commitment to sustainability is also demonstrated by the technological advances in the new VIERA Plasma range. With a Plasma panel lifetime of up to 100,000 hours, Smart VIERA TVs give you years of superb entertainment, and new and improved phosphor mixtures further drive power efficiencies.
Panasonic also continues its relationship with THX with five Full HD 3D Plasma HDTVs in the range certified, in both 2D and 3D mode, by the company founded by George Lucas. THX certification indicates the picture quality has been certified to meet the stringent standards expected by Hollywood’s top film makers.
